Learning a Piano Sequence through Feedback

An experiment reconstructs a piano sequence by repeatedly choosing keys.

Added to Jevfast

How it uses Jev

At each note, Jev chooses one of 88 piano keys. Timing and loudness are fixed from a transcription, while feedback reports exact, one-semitone, two-to-three-semitone, or farther error.

App workflow

  1. Prepare note sequence

A transcription supplies note timing and loudness; pitch is hidden.

  2. Choose a key

At each note Jev selects among 88 piano keys.

  3. Return feedback

The system reports hit, close, warm, or miss based on pitch distance.

  4. Retry sequence

The creator says misses required restarting from the beginning until the notes were learned.

Why it is interesting

This reconstructs a song through repeated discrete choices and graded feedback without giving Jev the pitch sequence or audio.
