Jevbot

Build Discord replies from repeated Jev word-choice tournaments and a completion judgment.

How it uses Jev

The Discord bot builds a textual state from the current user message, up to five prior user messages, and the words Jev has emitted so far. It repeatedly asks Jev to select the next token from a shuffled vocabulary, separately asks whether the reply is complete, and stops after a bounded number of words or a completion judgment. The pinned repository omits the referenced vocab.txt, so its concrete Choice options cannot be independently enumerated from this source snapshot.

App workflow

  1. Construct conversation state and vocabulary

The bot fetches recent user-only channel history, appends the current message and partial reply, then combines the referenced base vocabulary with unseen words from the message and the END sentinel.

  2. Run tournament selection

It shuffles vocabulary into buckets of at most 255 candidates, asks a Choice question for each bucket, keeps up to two positive-probability finalists per bucket, and runs a final Choice over the finalists.

  3. Continue or stop the reply

The bot ranks final probabilities after repetition and content penalties, appends the leading word, and checks a separate Noul completeness result after the minimum word count, up to 30 generated words.

Why it is interesting

It turns a decision model into a word-by-word conversational demo through tournament sampling: many bounded Choice questions produce finalists, then a runoff selects the next word. A separate Noul controls stopping, and code-side penalties adjust repetition and punctuation behavior.
